In Case of an Accident
Report the accident to the police:- If there are personal injuries; or
- If damages to any vehicle appear to be major
In all cases, if there are injuries call 9-1-1 for immediate assistance.
For any accident where a third party is involved, record:- Name(s) and contact information of any parties or witnesses involved
- License plate number(s) of any car(s) involved
- Insurance information of any other party involved
Making a car insurance claim
If you have been involved in an accident, or if something has happened to your car, simply call your Canada Insurance Shop Broker. They will record the details of your claim and report it to Canada Insurance Shop.
If your claim happens after business hours and it is urgent that you speak to someone immediately, please call the Canada Insurance Shop emergency claims line at 1-800-268-8865. We are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
What you’ll need before you call
When calling your Broker or Canada Insurance Shop to report a claim, please have your Automobile Policy Number on hand.
You may also be required to provide detailed information about the incident, including name(s), contact information, license plate number(s) and car insurance information of any other person who may have been involved. If the police attended the scene, you may be asked for the police accident report number.
